Terms of service (beta)

This is a beta draft, written to be complete enough for legal review, not yet reviewed by counsel. Do not treat it as final or binding until that review is complete and this frontmatter's status changes.

1. What this covers

These terms cover your use of the suo service: the API, the dashboard, the crawler, the widget and the CLI (together, the "service"), operated during a free beta period.

2. The beta

suo is offered free during beta, under fixed usage quotas described in Limits and quotas. Quota units are records, queries per month and partitions. Beta features may change, and the service may have more downtime than a paid, generally available product would. We will give advance notice before introducing pricing or a plan structure that could affect an existing account.

3. Your account and content

You are responsible for the content you index, whether pushed through the API or crawled from a domain you have verified. You confirm you have the right to index that content and to have it served to your own site's or app's visitors. You are responsible for keeping your keys and tokens confidential — see Security.

4. Acceptable use

Use of the service is subject to the Acceptable use policy, which is part of these terms.

5. Domain verification and the crawler

Crawling a domain requires verifying you control it, as described in Verify your domain. The crawler's behavior — what it obeys, what it never does — is described in the Crawler policy.

6. Data and privacy

What is collected, how long it is kept, and who processes it on our behalf is described in the Privacy policy and the Sub-processors list.

7. Availability

The service has no guaranteed uptime commitment during beta. Reads are designed to degrade rather than fail outright where possible (see Errors and limits), but no service level agreement applies yet.

8. Termination

Either party may stop using or providing the service at any time during beta. On termination, you can export your data before your account's indexes are removed; we will give reasonable notice before deleting data tied to a terminated account, except where you have asked for immediate deletion.

9. Changes to these terms

Beta terms may change as the product moves toward general availability. Material changes will be announced, not applied silently.
